Access Denied In C:\
I wanted to copy/delete some files in my C:\ drive but was unable to because it always asked me for administrative permissions, thats why i was trying to allow full control to all my users in C: properties, but now i am unable to even open my C drive as its giving me an "access denied" error message even when i have deleted all my other users and have only a single administrative account, what should i do so that i am again able to copy/delete files in C drive

1. Use cacls function to diagnose permissions. Root access may be blocked by default.

2. With extreme care use the same function for setting permissions. Be aware that with system account you can do changes that user or administrator are not allowed.

3. Before doing any important steps to recover permissions, try to analyse the cause of troubles. In enterprise environment double check GPO settings.

Hi,

How about your problem now? For your situation, I think you may made an fault operation when taking rights. Actually, C drive contains plenty of hidden file and their permisson cannot be achived by just take ownership.

It would be better to make system repair or system restore to fix this problem.

Also you can try to use SFC /scannow command to fix this problem for test.
